Phonogram 2.2 Preview Plus Other Malarkies
Oh, it’s another round up. First thing: PG2.2 is out next week, and Jamie’s lobbed up the first five pages. You can get ‘em here…

And the rest of them will be with you next week.
Early reviews starting to arrive too. First up is Comics Daily’s Seb Patrick. Being a length piece, there’s a few spoilers, but here’s the closing paragraph…
It’s actually kind of terrifying to see just how good Phonogram has become. It was previously an excellent comic with something of a niche appeal, but I honestly think it’s hauled itself up to a point where it deserves to be talked about in the same breath as the likes of Scott Pilgrim as one of the best things the industry currently has to offer. While I find it hard to believe that anyone could fail to engage with the series’ exploration of the meaning of music, it can at least be admitted that there are people in the world who simply have no emotional connection to music of any kind. That’s no longer any excuse for not reading Phonogram, though - you can only get away with it now if you have no emotional connection to anything.
So he liked it then. The rest here.
In other comic news, the Marvel solicits for July are out, including the solicit for GODHUNTER 2…

BETA RAY BILL: GODHUNTER #2 (of 3)
Written by Kieron Gillen
Art by KANO
Cover by PATRICK ZIRCHER
Is Galactus…worried? Even…scared? Does he think the last of the Korbinite’s unprecedented plan may succeed? That would explain why, on his approach to another idyllic world, the ever-hungry one sends his mightiest servant to stop Beta Ray Bill from interfering. But it’ll take more than the Silver Surfer’s Power Cosmic to make Bill turn back now…
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
Oh - and while we’re here, some of the better reviews for BETA RAY BILL: GREEN OF EDEN.
James Hunt, Comics Daily: “…, against expectations, you might also find yourself enjoying it more seriously. For a change, Bill is being allowed to grow as a character, and in this story he takes on an almost Silver Surfer-esque quality, particularly in the closing scenes. If, for that to work, we have to lose Bill’s status as the Wacky Thor, then the best thing I can say about this comic is that it makes me believe that the trade-off is actually worth it.”
Chris, Invincible Super Blog!: “Yes, in spite of the long-established rule about comics that have three colons in the title, this thing is awesome”
Paul O’Brien, The X-Axis: “It’s a neat angle, cleverly using Secret Invasion as a springboard for a story that’s really about the character himself. Worth a look if you have any interest in Bill “
And for the sake of a pretence of balance, here’s one of the less good ones.
And now I must stop, as I have many pages of punching to write before I sleep.

I haven’t read Phonogram 2.2 yet, but would I be far off if I thought you were listening to People in Love by Art Brut, while writing some of it?

Totally not. But everyone’s lived People In Love, y’know?
