written by KIERON GILLEN
art & cover by JAMIE McKELVIE

The critically-acclaimed Phonogram returns with seven issues of stand-alone Phonomantic stories, each set in the same night at a single nightclub. First up, Penny B wrestles with the big questions: Will she get the boy? Will the DJ play her record? Why was her gin and tonic so expensive? In a world where music is magic, she’ll discover just how deep shallow actually gets. Plus: Two complete back-up stories featuring guest artists MARC ELLERBY (Love The Way You Love) and LAUREN McCUBBIN (Rent Girl).

From Comixfan and CBR. I’ll write more about this over at PG.com later, but to stress for the first of many times, ordering it would be lovely.

Do you know of anywhere I can order it online? There aren’t any comic shops near enough to me that I am not too lazy to go to in person.

Not that I know yet, but I’ll keep an eye open for when they start advertising it.

I finally bought and read Phonogram Vol 1 the other week – and really enjoyed it. Even if most of the references did completely go over my head.

The Necromancer and his Troll were supposed to be Oasis right?

Thanks! And yes, they were.

KG

Thought so – but which brother is the Necromancer and which the Troll? And more importantly, why?

Dave: I didn’t correct you first time, but I didn’t actually say “Troll”. I said “Golem”, which is a different sort of relationship between wizard and creation.

KG

Ah yes, I knew Troll sounded wrong, but couldn’t be arsed to go look up the right version :)

Heh, its weird really. I guess I’m very kid-with-a-knife type person (only with a pint glass and a t-shirt instead) in that although I obviously know Oasis’ music, I know very little about /them/.

I know the personality of Noel much more from his almost co-host status on the Russell Brand Radio 2 podcast than I do from being in Oasis. And all I know of Liam is that he’s his brother.

Basic version:

The axis Oasis worked on was kind of Noel as this master figure who basically controlled everything, wrote all the songs (in the early period) and generally *was his band*.

Liam was the charismatic creature who had a habit of running out of control. Much like Golems.
